(DailyEmailNews.com) – While President Donald Trump is engaging with his Russian counterpart to achieve peace in Eastern Europe, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to snub him.
Zelensky launched a verbal assault on President Trump, claiming he “lives in this disinformation space” created by Russia.
“Unfortunately, President Trump – I have great respect for him as a leader of a nation that we have great respect for, the American people who always support us – unfortunately lives in this disinformation space,” the Ukrainian president stated.
This brazen attack on America’s leader comes as tensions between Washington and Kyiv reach new heights.
Zelensky argues that his discontent stems from the Trump administration’s supposed shift toward a more Russia-friendly stance.
The Ukrainian leader’s criticism centered on President Trump’s recent statements about Ukraine, including a remark that Zelensky’s approval rating was at a mere 4%.
Zelensky quickly dismissed this figure, blaming it on Russian sources and asserting that his actual approval rating hovers around 50%.
Adding fuel to the fire, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised President Trump for criticizing Zelensky, calling the Ukrainian president “pathetic.”
“Trump, I think, is the first Western leader to publicly and openly say that the cause of the Ukrainian conflict was the efforts of the previous administration to expand NATO,” Lavrov expressed.
“No Western leader has actually said that before. So that is already a signal that he understands our position,” he added.
Despite Zelensky’s newfound discontent, President Trump has consistently advocated for putting an end to the endless conflict plaguing the region.
President Trump has also called for presidential elections in Ukraine, which are currently banned under martial law.
While talks between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin continue, European leaders are increasingly worried about a shift in security arrangements that could leave them vulnerable.
Putin has described his country’s relationship with the U.S. under President Trump as friendly.
“There were completely different people on the American side, who were open to the negotiation process without any bias, without any condemnation of what had been done in the past,” Putin remarked.
Despite the increasing tensions, Zelensky seeks security guarantees from Western partners to end the war with Russia this year.
As the Kremlin confirms the possibility of a U.S.-Russian leaders summit before the end of the month, Ukraine and Europe stand on the sidelines, waiting.
Zelensky has blasted Trump for pushing “a lot of disinformation coming from Russia”.
“Unfortunately, President Trump, with all due respect for him as the leader of a nation that we respect greatly . . . is living in this disinformation bubble.” https://t.co/GGSnGEQMp0— Christopher Miller (@ChristopherJM) February 19, 2025
