(DailyEmailNews.com) – With increasing public outrage over the brutal killings of vulnerable women, Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann faces a seventh murder charge.

Heuermann, a 60-year-old architect from Massapequa Park, New York, has been charged with the murder of Valerie Mack.

Mack was a Philadelphia woman whose remains were discovered on Long Island’s South Shore.

This charge adds to the six previous murder charges against Heuermann, painting a chilling picture of a serial killer who operated for over a decade.

The Gilgo Beach murders, which have haunted the Long Island community since 2010, have finally seen significant progress.

Law enforcement showcased the importance of never giving up on cold cases, which led to these new charges against Heuermann.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney stated, “Today, my office filed a superseding indictment, charging the defendant, Heuermann, with a seventh charge, murder in the second degree, for the murder of Valerie Mack, which occurred in 2000.”

“I remind everyone that all of these cases and all of these murders are just allegations, and we look forward to proving them in court. As I’ve previously stated, the work of the Gilgo Task Force is ongoing and continuing. And when I said that, I meant what I said,” he added.

Tierney also emphasized the gravity of these crimes: “The lives of these women matter. We, as investigators, understand that. No one understands that more than the families.”

The investigation has revealed disturbing evidence, including a document Heuermann reportedly used to plan his kills, listing items and locations related to Mack’s murder.

Prosecutors have linked Heuermann to Mack’s death through mitochondrial DNA analysis and evidence from electronic devices.

Despite the mounting evidence, Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains held without bail.

His defense team is questioning the DNA methods used by prosecutors, potentially setting the stage for a drawn-out legal battle.

As the investigation continues, authorities are exploring potential links between Heuermann and other unsolved murders in the area.

As Heuermann’s next court appearance approaches on January 15, the nation watches closely, hoping for justice to be served.
