(DailyEmailNews.com) – The witch hunt continues as New York Judge Juan Merchan denied President-elect Donald Trump’s request to dismiss criminal charges in the politically motivated hush-money case.
This blatant disregard for presidential immunity threatens the very foundation of the constitutional republic and sets a dangerous precedent for future administrations.
Merchan’s decision ignores the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity, raising serious questions about the integrity of the judicial process.
The charges stem from alleged hush money payments during the 2016 election, which are part of a broader witch hunt against Trump by his political opponents.
Trump did not mince words in his response to the ruling. He called out Merchan for his partisan bias and disrespect for the highest court in the land.
The case against Trump, which includes 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, has been described as a thinly veiled attempt to undermine his presidency.
Despite the clear political motivations behind these charges, Merchan has chosen to ignore the principles of presidential immunity.
Trump’s legal team argued that evidence related to his official acts as president should be inadmissible, citing the principle of immunity from prosecution for such acts.
However, Merchan displayed judicial activism by ruling that the evidence showed unofficial conduct, conveniently sidestepping the critical issue of executive authority.
This ruling is particularly troubling given Merchan’s history of political bias. The judge has made small donations to Democrats and his daughter works with Democrat clients.
“Today’s decision by deeply conflicted, acting Justice Merchan in the Manhattan DA Witch Hunt is a direct violation of the Supreme Court’s decision on immunity, and other longstanding jurisprudence,” said Trump communications director Steven Cheung after the ruling.
As Inauguration Day approaches, Trump still faces this baseless hush money conviction and the politically-motivated Georgia 2020 election case.
