(DailyEmailNews.com) – In a stunning defeat, President-elect Donald Trump faces yet another setback in his ongoing battle against a politically motivated witch hunt.
A federal appeals court has shockingly upheld a $5 million verdict against Trump in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan rejected Trump’s appeal, sustaining the multi-million dollar award in Carroll’s favor.
This decision comes even though Trump has firmly denied Carroll’s allegations and declared that the trial was extremely unfair.
The case stems from Carroll’s claims of a 1996 incident and Trump’s denial on Truth Social in 2022.
Trump’s legal team argued that the trial was tainted by the inclusion of evidence regarding past alleged misconduct.
However, the court cited this very evidence as establishing a pattern of behavior consistent with Carroll’s allegations.
In response, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung called for “an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and a swift dismissal of all of the Witch Hunts, including the Democrat-funded Carroll Hoax.”
Notably, the court dismissed Trump’s valid concerns about the fact that Reid Hoffman, a known Democrat donor, funded Carroll’s case.
Judge Lewis Kaplan also accepted testimonies from Jessica Leeds and Natasha Stoynoff, citing previous misconduct by Trump as crucial evidence.
The move was labeled as key in establishing a pattern of behavior supporting Carroll’s claims.
As Carroll’s case continues, the president-elect’s team ponders any future legal procedures.
Trump is still awaiting an additional $83 million defamation appeal stemming from the Carroll case.
