(DailyEmailNews.com) – Harris County in Texas witnessed a harrowing incident when three kids were shot after trying to rob a couple at gunpoint.
The victim exercised his Second Amendment rights to defend himself and his girlfriend against the juvenile assailants, critically injuring the youngest.
The attempted robbery took place just after midnight in the 12700 block of North Houston Rosslyn Road.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Major Suarez reported that four children, aged 12 to 14, approached a 25-year-old man and his girlfriend.
The group did so with what appeared to be weapons, demanding the couple’s belongings.
Initially, the couple thought it was a prank due to the boys’ young appearance.
However, the situation quickly escalated, forcing the victim to take decisive action to protect himself and his girlfriend.
“The victim pulled out his own weapon and shot at the juveniles,” Major Suarez stated.
Some argue that the victim’s quick thinking and ability to carry a firearm likely prevented a far worse outcome for himself and his girlfriend.
Three of the young assailants were found with gunshot wounds. Two are in fair condition, while the third – believed to be the 12-year-old – is fighting for his life in critical condition.
Police officers also arrested a fourth juvenile and an adult at the scene.
The 25-year-old victim remained at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement.
He turned himself in to authorities, and officials retrieved his weapon. Several guns were also recovered at the scene for processing, raising questions about how these young boys obtained firearms.
A grand jury will determine if the man will face charges, but given the circumstances, it appears to be a clear-cut case of self-defense.
