(DailyEmailNews.com) – In a stunning display of heroism, two quick-thinking passengers on a Colorado Springs bus prevented disaster when their driver suddenly collapsed and died on the spot.

A routine journey on a Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) bus in Colorado Springs turned into a life-or-death situation.

Specifically, the driver suffered a severe medical emergency and fell from his seat, leaving the bus careening out of control.

One passenger immediately moved to the front to manage the controls, while another took charge of the steering wheel.

Their coordinated effort brought the vehicle to a safe stop, potentially saving the lives of everyone on board.

The scene was captured on bus security cameras and showed the harrowing moments as passengers rushed to assist.

One passenger, holding a coffee cup, can be seen asking the driver if he was alright before realizing the severity of the situation.

“Dispatch, I am on No. 1 southbound. Your bus driver is having a seizure. I am parking the bus,” the second passenger reported calmly over the bus radio.

In a display of gratitude, MMT has publicly requested that these heroic passengers come forward.

MMT spokeswoman Elaine Sheridan stated, “We have publicly requested that these passengers contact us because we would like to provide them with passes as a token of our appreciation for their assistance that morning.”

The incident occurred on Route 1, from Hillside to Hancock Plaza, and the bus came to a stop near Academy Boulevard and Astrozon Boulevard.
