(DailyEmailNews.com) – After investigators discovered illegal suit alterations, Olympic gold medalists from Norway caught cheating in ski jumping have been suspended.
The cheating scandal has rocked the world of competitive ski jumping, with coaches and equipment managers already confessing to manipulating pre-approved suits.

The fallout threatens not only Norway’s medal count but also its global reputation in sports.
The scandal emerged during the Nordic World Championships in March 2025 in Trondheim, Norway, when Olympic champions Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang from the Norwegian team were suspended amid serious allegations.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) launched an investigation after Austria, Slovenia, and Poland filed formal protests, all questioning the Norwegian team’s equipment.
What investigators discovered shocked the sports world: the Norwegians had been secretly altering microchipped suits after they passed official inspections.
These modifications enlarged the suits and improved aerodynamics, giving jumpers a significant competitive advantage.
Officials confirmed the cheating by examining seams in the crotch area of the ski suits, which had been manipulated to allow for the illegal alterations.
The Norwegian Ski Federation initially tried to downplay the incident but quickly changed course when damning video evidence surfaced.
Norwegian head coach Magnus Brevik and equipment manager Adrian Livelten confessed to the scheme and were promptly suspended.
Brevik excused their actions, claiming they “got carried away in our bubble.” He added, “We regret it like dogs, and I’m terribly sorry that this happened,” in an attempt to apologize after getting caught red-handed.
Norway, which ranks high on Transparency International’s anti-corruption index and had previously advocated for excluding Russian athletes from competition, now faces its own integrity crisis.
The Norwegian ski federation had presented itself as a role model while secretly engaging in systematic cheating that may have influenced numerous competitions and medal standings.
Norwegian ski federation official Jan-Erik Aalbu finally admitted the truth: “The way I consider this, we have cheated. We have tried to cheat the system. That is unacceptable.”
The confession came far too late for a country that has built its international reputation on honesty and fair play.
Both Lindvik and Forfang have claimed innocence, insisting they had no knowledge their suits had been altered.
“This has been a nightmare. I’m broken and sad,” Lindvik wrote on social media.
However, many competitors and observers remain skeptical about whether elite athletes could truly be unaware of illegal modifications to their equipment.
“We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that respect and fairness prevail,” promised FIS secretary general Michel Vonn, who emphasized the federation’s commitment to clean competition.
The investigation may now extend to past events, potentially jeopardizing Lindvik’s gold medal from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
This raises uncomfortable questions about how long this cheating program has operated and how many competitions have been tainted.
While the World Cup season continues with upcoming events in Oslo, Lindvik and Forfang remain barred from competition.
