(DailyEmailNews.com) – In a dramatic change of course, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s unconstitutional gun grab has been stopped in its tracks.
The Democrat’s attempt to suspend Second Amendment rights in Albuquerque has been reversed, dealing a blow to the left’s relentless assault on the Constitution.
Governor Lujan Grisham’s initial order suspended the right to carry firearms in public in Albuquerque and surrounding areas for 30 days, facing immediate and intense backlash.
The order was quickly labeled as “insanely unconstitutional” by critics from both sides of the political aisle.
U.S. District Court Judge David Urias granted a temporary restraining order blocking the governor’s suspension of gun rights, recognizing a violation of Second Amendment freedoms.
This judicial intervention forced Lujan Grisham to backpedal, amending her order to focus only on public parks and playgrounds.
The governor’s overreach was so evident that even her own state’s Attorney General Raúl Torrez refused to defend the 30-day firearm prohibition.
Additionally, law enforcement officials including Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen were reluctant to enforce the unconstitutional order.
Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman took a stand for freedom, stating that his office would not prosecute violators of the order.
“As an officer of the court, I cannot and will not enforce something that is clearly unconstitutional,” Bregman declared.
The governor’s order was based on outdated gun violence data and ignored current crime trends showing a decrease in homicides and robberies in Albuquerque.
Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker is leading the charge against such unconstitutional gun grabs.
He supports legislation to prevent federal officials from using so-called “public health emergencies” as a pretext for gun control.
