(DailyEmailNews.com) – Just a day after the left used the same line of attack, Nikki Haley swiftly slammed President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI).
In a fiery broadcast on her SiriusXM radio program, the former U.N. Ambassador and Republican presidential candidate criticized Gabbard’s fitness for the crucial role of DNI.
She accused the former Democrat congresswoman of being a “Russian, Iranian, Syrian, Chinese sympathizer.”
By doing so, Haley sought to highlight a string of controversial positions that, in her view, should disqualify Gabbard from overseeing America’s intelligence community.
“She opposed ending the Iran nuclear deal. She opposed sanctions on Iran. She opposed designating the Iran military as terrorists who say death to America every single day,” Haley declared.
Haley’s criticism stems from Gabbard’s track record of foreign policy positions as she has faced accusations of promoting Russian propaganda.
The former Hawaii representative also met with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in 2017, even though the international community condemned his regime’s use of chemical weapons against civilians.
“She said she was skeptical that he was behind the chemical weapons attacks. Now, this to me is disgusting because Cheney, you and I were at the United Nations when Assad did those chemical attacks on those children,” Haley said.
“And you can go back and look at a speech I gave holding up pictures of dead children who had been killed by chemical attacks…For her to say that Assad was not behind that. Literally, everything she said about that, were Russian talking points,” she added.
Gabbard’s nomination comes after she endorsed Trump’s presidential campaign and switched to the Republican Party.
Critics argue that this sudden party shift and her controversial foreign policy views make her an inappropriate choice for such a sensitive national security position.
Leveraging her experience as a former ambassador, Haley urged Republican senators to stand firm against Gabbard’s nomination.
She emphasized the critical nature of the DNI role in safeguarding American interests, stating, “This is not a place for a Russian, Iranian, Syrian, Chinese sympathizer.”
The controversy surrounding Gabbard’s nomination highlights the Republican Party’s ongoing struggle to balance loyalty to Trump with traditional foreign policy stances.
As the confirmation process looms, it remains to be seen whether GOP senators will listen to Haley’s warnings or fall in line behind the president-elect’s choice.
