(DailyEmailNews.com) – Revealing a massive crack within the Democrat Party, 10 Democrats broke ranks to join 209 Republicans to pass a resolution condemning the Biden-Harris administration’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Specifically, during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan on August 26, 2021, a suicide bombing at Abbey Gate killed 13 American servicemen.
In response, the House of Representatives passed a stunning bipartisan vote of 219-194, targeting 15 key administration officials for “decisionmaking and execution failures.”
In his testimony before the House Rules Committee, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul slammed the Biden-Harris administration.
“More than three years after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, President Biden, Vice President Harris have yet to hold a single person accountable for this catastrophic failure of epic proportions,” he stated.
The resolution criticized Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby, among others.
Despite the controversy, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller defended the withdrawal as the “correct policy choice.”
His statement comes amid ongoing criticisms from various quarters, including Gold Star families.
The fallout from the withdrawal was severe: 13 American troops and about 170 civilians were killed.
The U.S. also abandoned up to $7 billion worth of military equipment, now in the hands of the Taliban.
This grim tally has sparked fierce scrutiny and investigation, including a detailed 354-page report by the House Foreign Affairs Committee that outlined several of the current administration’s failings.
The report criticized the administration for not sticking to NATO and senior military recommendations.
It also blasted the decision to ignore the Doha Agreement conditions, neglect the Afghan government’s pleas and mislead the American public about the situation on the ground during the withdrawal.
