Trump: They ‘Made a Very Big Mistake’

( – Communicating his thoughts on American foreign policy after four years of the strongest leadership the country has ever seen, former President Donald Trump expressed his firm support for Israel’s ongoing military actions against Hamas but had one complaint.

In an interview with Israel Hayom, Trump praised Israel’s response to the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas, which resulted in the murders of over 1,200 civilians and the abduction of hundreds of Israelis.

However, he criticized Israel for conducting a bombing campaign within Gaza and suggested it could damage the nation’s global standing.

“You have to finish up your war. To finish it up. You got to get it done. And I am sure you will do that. We got to get to peace, we can’t have this going on,” Trump told the news outlet.

He emphasized that Israel needed to wrap up its military operations and transition toward peace for the benefit of all parties involved since the Jew nation is losing support.

“I would say I would act very much the same way as [Israel] did [on Oct. 7]. You would have to be crazy not to. Only a fool would not do that. That was a horrible attack,” Trump stated.

When questioned about the surge in antisemitism following the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks and Israel’s retaliatory measures, Trump said the fault fell on the rise in global backlash to Israel’s defensive response.

“Well, that’s because you fought back. And I think Israel made a very big mistake,” Trump remarked. He said he had wanted to advise Israel against its bombing strategy and cited the negative image projected by the media coverage of bombings in Gaza as damaging to Israel’s image on the global stage.

“Go and do what you have to do. But you don’t do that. And I think that’s one of the reasons that there has been a lot of kickback,” Trump added. He suggested that while Israel aimed to showcase its strength, such tactics were not always advisable.

Trump also criticized Joe Biden, pointing out that the issues in Gaza and the broader Middle East came from his weakness and ineffectiveness.

“[Hamas has] no respect for him. He can’t put two sentences together,” Trump stated. “He can’t talk. He’s a very dumb person. He’s a dumb person. His foreign policy throughout 50 years has been horrible… [Hamas] would have never done that attack if I were there.”
