Trump Notches a Big Win

(DailyEmailNews.com) – Scoring huge wins ahead of this year’s election that point to a unified Republican government, a politician endorsed by former President Donald Trump emerged victorious in the Republican primary for the Ohio Senate.

Bernie Moreno’s resounding win sets the stage for a November showdown with Democratic incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown, as declared by Decision Desk HQ.

With a background in car dealership ownership and family ties to father-in-law Representative Max Miller (R-OH), Moreno beat Republicans state Senator Matt Dolan and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose in a fiercely competitive primary that saw tensions rise in its final stages.

Earning important support, Moreno secured endorsements not only from the former president but also from prominent Ohio figures such as Republicans Senator JD Vance and Representative Jim Jordan.

The race saw Moreno and Dolan, both with previously unsuccessful bids for the Ohio Senate seat in 2022, making use of their significant financial resources for campaign funding, markedly overshadowing LaRose in this aspect.

Poll dynamics shifted noticeably throughout the campaign, with LaRose initially ahead early on. However, Moreno took the lead after Trump endorsed him and receiving broad support from key Senate Republicans toward the end of 2023 and early 2024.

In turn, Dolan appeared to gain momentum as the election approached, with recent polls hinting at his potential lead. His campaign received a boost from endorsements by former Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) that aimed to narrow the gap with Moreno.

In the week leading up to the election, Moreno faced scrutiny over a Democratic-led smearing campaign that allegedly discovered an Adult Friend Finder account linked to his work email, reportedly seeking “Men for 1-on-1 sex.”

After The Associated Press highlighted this development, Moreno’s campaign addressed it by revealing the account was created by a former intern as a failed attempt at a prank in 2008.

According to the intern the joke lacked malicious intent and it was possible since he and others had access to Moreno’s email. Moreno’s legal representation further restated the nominee was not involved with the account.

With Trump’s support solidified just before the primary, Moreno successfully clinched the nomination that sees him gearing up for a battle against Brown in the upcoming high-stakes Senate race.
