THEY’RE PAYING HIM HOW MUCH?!

(DailyEmailNews.com) – Thanks to a new four-year $25.6 million contract extension, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has just become the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.

As reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal includes $17.8 million guaranteed and prompted Butker to celebrate.

Taking to social media, Butker shared his excitement about continuing with the Chiefs.

“There’s no place I’d rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalizе a 4 year extension. To the Heights!” he shared in a tweet.

Representing himself in the contract talks, Butker was set to become a free agent after the 2024 season but will now remain with the Chiefs through 2028.

His new contract, which averages $6.4 million annually, surpasses the salaries of top kickers like Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens and Jake Elliott of the Philadelphia Eagles, who each earn around $6 million per year.

Butker has been key in the Chiefs’ success, contributing to their three Super Bowl appearances during the Patrick Mahomes era.

He also made it possible to set a Super Bowl record with a 57-yard field goal in Super Bowl LVIII this past February.

However, Butker has also been under fire, particularly for comments he made regarding his Catholic faith.

During a commencement speech at Benedictine College in May, he criticized pride month.

He also addressed the female graduates, stating they “have had the most diabolical lies told” to them and suggested that many might prioritize marriage and children over careers.

These remarks sparked significant backlash from feminists and progressives, who called on the Chiefs to dismiss him. A petition demanding his release gathered over 238,000 signatures.

Despite the controversy, Butker stated he has no regrets about his statements.

“The more I’ve talked about what I value most, which is my Catholic faith, the more polarizing I have become,” he noted in May.

“It’s a decision I’ve consciously made and one I do not regret at all. If we have truth and charity, we should trust in the Lord’s providence and let the Holy Ghost do the rest of the work,” he firmly stated.
