(DailyEmailNews.com) – In a declaration that spells further escalation of tensions around Israel, the leader of the heavily armed Iran-backed Lebanese movement Hezbollah has blamed the US ally for the recent operations that destroyed his group’s communication devices, such as radios and pagers.
The Hezbollah leader’s remarks were made against a backdrop of sonic booms from Israeli warplanes reverberating through buildings in Beirut.
Lebanon and Hezbollah have attributed the death of 37 people and injuries to approximately 3,000 others to Israel, accusing it of targeting Hezbollah’s communication tools, which placed immense strain on Lebanese medical facilities and caused extensive devastation within the militant group.
Israel has remained silent about these specific incidents, but security experts believe they were likely executed by the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence service known for its advanced operations abroad.
“There is no doubt that we have been subjected to a major security and military blow that is unprecedented in the history of the resistance and unprecedented in the history of Lebanon,” stated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah during his televised speech from an unknown location.
“This type of killing, targeting and crime may be unprecedented in the world,” he added, cited by Reuters and Newsmax.
The operations “crossed all red lines. The enemy went beyond all controls, laws, and morals,” he continued, suggesting the attacks could be labeled as war crimes or even a declaration of war.
As his speech was broadcast, the sound of Israeli warplanes causing sonic booms echoed through Beirut, intensifying the existing tension as the possibility of a full-scale conflict seemed to increase.
Israel confirmed that its warplanes had targeted southern Lebanon the previous night and that airstrikes had resumed in the border region by the afternoon.
Nasrallah expressed a desire for Israeli ground forces to enter southern Lebanon, which he believed would present a significant opportunity for Hezbollah.
He further emphasized that no amount of military aggression would convince Israeli settlers to return to the border region, a major objective for the Israeli government.
Despite describing the attacks as unprecedented and accusing Israel of intending to kill thousands, Nasrallah downplayed their impact on Hezbollah, asserting that the organization’s structure remained robust.
“Yes, we received a big and harsh blow, but this is also the nature of war,” he acknowledged, admitting to Israel’s technological superiority.
A response from the axis of resistance, which includes Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, was promised to be severe, as stated by Commander Hossein Salami in support of Nasrallah.
On the same day, the Israeli military reported the death of two soldiers in northern Israel, attributing one fatality to a drone and the other to an anti-tank missile launched by Hezbollah from across the Lebanese border.
