(DailyEmailNews.com) – Although millions of Americans support his decision, President Donald Trump’s bold executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens has sparked a political battle.

Democrat Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has vowed to defy the order, calling it unconstitutional.

This clash between blue states and federal authorities highlights the ongoing battle over immigration policy.

Titled “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship,” Trump’s executive order seeks to redefine the criteria for automatic citizenship.

This move directly challenges the long-standing interpretation of the 14th Amendment, which states that all persons born or naturalized in the U.S. are citizens.

Conservative legal scholars argue that birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens is a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment.

They believe that the original intent of the amendment was not to grant automatic citizenship to children of those illegally present in the country.

However, Pritzker has taken a stance against the executive order. In a statement, he declared, “That’s unconstitutional. We will not follow an unconstitutional order.”

This defiance from a Democrat governor against federal policy underscores the deep divisions between conservatives and liberals over immigration issues.

Pritzker added:

“President Trump’s executive order to strip birthright citizenship from people born in this country is unconstitutional. Here in Illinois, we follow the law. This is only the beginning of the new administration’s attempt to undermine the rule of law, and the people of Illinois can count on me to stand against unconstitutional actions.”

Pritzker’s criticism extends beyond the executive order itself. He slammed the Trump administration’s communication.

He stated, “They have not communicated with us. I’m reading the same thing you are. This is indicative of what you’re going to see of the Trump administration for the next four years. It’s chaos.”

The governor, a billionaire himself, also criticized what he believes is Trump’s favoritism toward the wealthy.

“He’s got the oligarchs sitting on the front row of his inauguration. It shows who he cares about. It’s the wealthiest people in America who are cow-towing to him and not ordinary Americans. He does not care about ordinary Americans,” Pritzker claimed.

Despite the pushback, Trump remains confident in the legal standing of his executive order.

He has stated that he has “good (legal) ground” for the action, anticipating and seemingly welcoming the legal challenges that are sure to come.

As this battle over birthright citizenship unfolds, it is clear that the issue will likely end up in the courts.

The outcome could have far-reaching implications for immigration policy and the interpretation of the Constitution.

For now, patriotic Americans who support strong border security and immigration reform can take heart that Trump is following through on his promises to do what it takes to protect the nation.
