Prominent RINO Mike Pence has come out of the shadows to warn President Donald Trump: do not do it unless you want to threaten our national security.
Watch the video down below.
Specifically, the former vice president criticized the president’s decision to accept a $400 million plane gift from Qatar.
In an NBC “Meet the Press” interview, Pence laid out his concerns about Qatar’s dual loyalties and the risks of accepting such an extravagant foreign gift.
The warning comes as the Trump administration plans to accept a Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from Qatar’s royal family for presidential travel.
“First we’ve got to remember who Qatar is. We’ve got a military base there. I have members of our immediate family that have deployed to the region,” Pence stated.
“But Qatar has a long history of playing both sides. They support Hamas. They supported Al Qaeda. Qatar has actually financed pro-Hamas protests on American campuses across the United States,” he added.
Qatar’s history of backing Hamas and Al Qaeda raises red flags about the wisdom of using a foreign-sourced aircraft as Air Force One.
The deal could potentially compromise presidential security and violate constitutional principles.
Pence’s concern stems from Qatar’s controversial relationships with terrorist organizations.
While Qatar hosts American military facilities, it simultaneously provides financial support to Hamas and has historical ties to Al Qaeda, according to Pence.
This double-dealing presents significant counterintelligence challenges if the U.S. president were to use Qatari-sourced transportation.
The former vice president specifically highlighted the intelligence and security issues at stake:
“There are profound issues — the potential for intelligence gathering, the need to ensure the president of the United States is safe and secure as he travels around the world,” he remarked.
Converting the luxury jet into a secure Air Force One could take years and cost over $1 billion on top of the initial aircraft value.
The plane would need extensive security modifications, communications systems, and defensive capabilities to meet presidential security standards.
These modifications would need to be completed by trusted American contractors with the highest security clearances.
President Trump has defended accepting the aircraft, arguing it would save taxpayer money.
“Why should our military, and therefore our taxpayers, be forced to pay hundreds of millions of Dollars when they can get it for FREE from a country that wants to reward us for a job well done,” the president stated in defense of the arrangement.
President Trump clarified that the plane would be donated to the Department of Defense rather than to him personally.
He expressed, “This highly respected country is donating the plane to the United States Air Force/Defense Department, AND NOT TO ME. By so doing, they are saving our country, and the American Taxpayer, hundreds of millions of dollars.”
However, opposition to the deal crosses party lines, with both Democrat and Republican lawmakers expressing concerns.
Constitutional scholars note that the U.S. Constitution explicitly prohibits federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments without congressional approval.
Such a provision was explicitly designed to prevent foreign influence over American leaders.
Pence suggested an alternative: “My hope is the president reconsiders it. I think if Qatar wants to make a gift to the United States, they ought to take that $400 million and plow it into infrastructure on our military base.”
Despite these concerns, the White House has indicated that President Trump plans to accept the aircraft, which would represent the largest foreign gift ever received by a U.S. president.
The $400 million jet would eventually be transferred to President Trump’s presidential library after his term concludes.
