(DailyEmailNews.com) – In an absolute outrage, as snow falls over Clyde, North Carolina, good American families are forced to endure chilling conditions in tents after Hurricane Helene’s devastation.

Federal assistance remains inefficient, leaving residents to fend for themselves, as the federal government seems to be forgetting its own citizens while prioritizing other issues.

Hurricane Helene ravaged Western North Carolina, leaving over 100 dead and causing $50 billion in damages.

Nearly a month later, many struggle to survive in makeshift shelters.

Residents like Annette Surrett are grappled with the cold in donated pop-up campers, relying on church volunteers for essential supplies.

Aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has lagged significantly. Residents find themselves turning to local church groups for temporary housing and vital utilities.

“They’ve been told it’s going to be a while before even FEMA temporary housing is in place,” said Amanda Fowler, pastor at Canton Wesleyan Church and member of the North Canton Volunteer Fire Department.

The storm wrought destruction across seven states, with North Carolinians suffering tremendously.

Criticism against the Biden administration amplifies, with accusations of neglecting hurricane victims to focus on others, including illegal immigrants.

“The fire department — they were here yelling for people to get out. It was kind of horrifying.” – Annette Surrett, a local resident, cited by The Catholic Vote.

The community and church volunteers have been instrumental in offering sustenance and shelter.

Volunteers from Canton Wesleyan Church and Emerge Ministries build insulated sheds for families battling against the bitter winter weather.

Kris Weil described the horror of being swept away by floodwaters, miraculously surviving like many others caught in Helene’s wrath.

“There’s been some miracles. The churches, the community, more than anything, have been some of the people who have helped the most,” he gratefully expressed.

“I am using a generator that one of the churches donated. I’ve been using propane heaters” – Annette Surrett told ABC 11.

With FEMA’s hotel vouchers now depleted, the plight worsens as snow accumulates.

FEMA’s inadequate response leaves survivors feeling abandoned.

As Thanksgiving nears, their stark reality contrasts sharply with holiday normalcy.

Dara Cody and her family are among the affected, expressing astonishment at the community’s rallying response amidst government failures.

“All the volunteers that have come here have just been beyond what we could ever imagine,” Cody stated.
