(DailyEmailNews.com) – Disruptive elements have infiltrated the government as a key figure in President-elect Donald Trump’s first impeachment has been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Democrat newcomer and Trump-archenemy Eugene Vindman narrowly won Virginia’s 7th District congressional race, defeating Republican Derrick Anderson by a slim 51-49% margin.

The seat had been a Republican stronghold for nearly 50 years until 2018, when Democrat U.S. Rep. Abigail defeated incumbent Dave Brat.

Vindman now succeeds Spanberger, who is running for Virginia’s governorship in next year’s election.

Particularly alarming is Vindman’s background and role in the impeachment saga.

As an immigrant from the Soviet Union, Vindman gained national attention during Trump’s first impeachment, where he and his twin brother testified against the then-President.

In the run-up to the election, Vindman’s campaign war chest significantly outweighed his opponent’s.

He raised a staggering $15,686,039 compared to Anderson’s $2,851,581, which raised eyebrows about who exactly is backing Vindman and what their agenda might be.

Vindman leveraged his impeachment role by writing in a fundraising email: “It’s been 5 years since Trump made the corrupt phone call that forever altered the lives of me and my twin brother.”

Vindman’s victory has been seen as a crucial step for Democrats in their quest to regain control of the House.

They need to flip just four Republican-held seats, and Virginia’s 7th District could be key in this power grab.

It is worth noting that Anderson has not conceded the race due to concerns about uncounted ballots.

“We want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard in this extremely close race,” Anderson’s campaign stated.
