Old Gray Lady to Biden: Drop Out!

(DailyEmailNews.com) – Following Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance, the New York Times editorial board has recommended that he drop out from the upcoming presidential race.

The board suggested that a new Democratic candidate should face former President Donald Trump instead.

The recently published editorial highlights Biden’s previous debates and campaign statements about defending American democracy, saying, “Mr. Biden has said that he is the candidate with the best chance of taking on this threat of tyranny and defeating it.”

“His argument rests largely on the fact that he beat Mr. Trump in 2020. That is no longer a sufficient rationale for why Mr. Biden should be the Democratic nominee this year,” the board argued.

The editorial responds to Biden’s recent debate struggles, adding, “The president appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant.”

He struggled to explain what he would accomplish in a second term. He struggled to respond to Mr. Trump’s provocations … More than once, he struggled to make it to the end of a sentence,” the editorial explained.

Although the newspaper praised Biden’s leadership while criticizing Trump’s tenure, it added that the best course of action for the Democrat would be “to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election.”

Despite his attempt to mitigate concerns by highlighting his resilience and commitment at a North Carolina rally, the editorial board expressed doubts about his capacity to serve effectively.

During the rally, Biden pleaded to his followers by saying, “I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done. I know, like millions of Americans, when you get knocked down, you get back up.”

The board still prefers Biden over Trump but sees his continued candidacy as a risk, given the presence of other Democrats who might offer a more dynamic and persuasive alternative.

The editorial concluded by urging Biden’s close allies and the Democratic party at large to confront the realities of his diminishing public effectiveness and to consider the potential benefits of a new nominee.
