(DailyEmailNews.com) – In the aftermath of the shocking assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, authorities made a chilling discovery: the killer might have left a message behind.
Thompson was gunned down in cold blood on a busy street as he was heading to an investor meeting near the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
The masked gunman was waiting for his target from behind a parked car. He showed himself after spotting Thompson to fire multiple shots at him.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the incident as a “brazen, targeted attack.” Adding to the mystery, the killer left cryptic messages behind.
Police sources revealed that shell casings found at the scene were inscribed with the words “deny,” “depose” and “defend.”
These messages hint at a possible conspiracy, raising questions about whether Thompson was targeted for his job and if there are deeper reasons behind the murder.
The suspect, described as a white male dressed in black and wearing a ski mask, displayed an alarming level of firearms knowledge.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny noted, “From watching the video, it does seem that he’s proficient in the use of firearms as he was able to clear the malfunctions pretty quickly.”
Despite the law enforcement’s massive search operation, including the use of police drones, helicopters and dogs, the suspect remains at large.
The killer has been able to evade capture after fleeing the scene on an e-bike and disappearing into the city.
Additionally, Thompson’s wife revealed that he had received threats, possibly related to insurance coverage issues.
Since the assassination happened just hours before the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting, authorities were forced to implement increased security measures for the event.
In response to the murder, UnitedHealth Group Inc. declared, “We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare.”
