Neighbor: ‘A Lot of People Were Afraid of Him’

(DailyEmailNews.com) – After 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested for aiming an AK-47 assault rifle at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump while he was golfing, his neighbors are revealing harrowing details about the man’s life.

A neighbor from where Routh lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, expressed shock at the incident.

She stated that although Routh owned many guns and that “a lot of people were afraid of him back in the day,” she never thought he would attempt to kill a former president.

“Him, I mean, trying to shoot Trump. That’s a lot. I would have never guessed, and I would have swore up and down, no, that’s not him,” she commented.

“I just can’t believe it. I mean, if I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I mean the pictures and stuff and all, then I wouldn’t be able to believe that,” she added.

She further expressed, “I mean, I didn’t think he would go that far. I knew he was a little cuckoo, but assassinating the president? I mean, he’s going to be going away for a long time.”

Specifically, law enforcement spotted Routh positioned several holes ahead on the golf course.

Routh reportedly mounted a GoPro on the fence to record what he planned as an assassination, according to officials.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder noted Routh appeared “calm” when law enforcement arrested him.

This incident might mark the second attempt on the former president’s life this election season.

Trump had previously been targeted at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024.

Furthermore, there are concerns about how Routh knew about Trump’s location.

Retired FBI assistant director Chris Swecker said that authorities would investigate whether Routh had inside information.

“The biggest question to answer is: ‘How did the would-be assassin know to be at that location at that time?’” he wondered.
