(DailyEmailNews.com) – Dealing a blow to her own party, never-Trumper Liz Cheney has just declared that she would vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming November election.

The former representative from Wyoming also took the chance to parrot a Democrat talking point by labeling GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump a unique threat to the nation.
Speaking at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy, Cheney stated, “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this.”
“Because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris,” she added.
This decision is a significant political shift for Cheney, who served as a Republican congresswoman from 2017 to 2023 and is the daughter of Dick Cheney, former Vice President under George W. Bush.
Cheney has been openly critical of Trump, especially after his presidency. She co-chaired the Nancy Pelosi-created House select committee that investigated Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Reflecting on the past, Cheney acknowledged she regretted voting for Trump over Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Responding to Cheney’s endorsement, Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon commented, “The Vice President is proud to have earned Congresswoman Cheney’s vote.”
“She is a patriot who loves this country and puts our democracy and our Constitution first,” O’Malley Dillon expressed.
O’Malley Dillon also claimed that Harris planned to serve all Americans, extending an invitation to anyone wishing to move past “the chaos and division of Donald Trump.”
After frequently clashing with Trump, Cheney lost her congressional seat in the 2022 Republican primary to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman by a significant margin.
In 2021, Cheney was removed from her key leadership position as the House Republican Conference Chair, and the Wyoming Republican Party declared it no longer recognized her as a member.
Cheney’s support for Harris aligns with a broader movement within some Republican circles that oppose Trump.
Just last week, 238 Republicans who worked with Bush, Sen. John McCain or Sen. Mitt Romney endorsed Harris publicly.
The Harris campaign has capitalized on this support, initiating a “Republicans for Harris” group and incorporating Republican speakers at the Democrat National Convention in Chicago.
