(DailyEmailNews.com) – Confirming she sought to manipulate the setting in her favor, ABC News has turned down Kamala Harris’ last-minute requests to modify the debate rules for her face-off with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on September 10.
After this was revealed, her requests were seen as an effort to disadvantage her opponent.
Harris had proposed that the candidates be allowed to sit during the debate, bring notes and have microphones that remain open even after their speaking time ended.
By doing so, Harris tried to change the very same conditions that Joe Biden had agreed to for his lackluster debate with Trump on CNN.
A report from the New York Post outlined that Trump and Harris will both stand throughout their debate, with each having access to a water bottle, pen and paper.
The debate is scheduled to take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
A Trump ally told the media outlet that both campaigns had already agreed in writing to the debate conditions last week.
However, Harris’ team later pushed to have the microphones left open throughout the event.
Some believe this could put Trump at a disadvantage since he is known for interrupting his opponents.
However, others suggest Harris is looking to employ the same strategy she used during her debate with former Vice President Mike Pence, whom she interrupted constantly.
“At this point, Team Harris is going to be taking an ‘L’ when they finally accept, as the debate rules aren’t changing, or they’ll take an even bigger ‘L’ if they back out of the debate because the Dana Bash/CNN interview goes poorly,” an insider stated.
Almost 40 days after rising to lead the Democrat Party’s 2024 ticket, Harris engaged in her first significant interview with CNN’s Dana Bash.
Instead of facing the event alone, Harris brought along her running mate Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) to the pre-recorded interview.
