(DailyEmailNews.com) – Taking a firm stand for traditional values, House Republicans proposed bathroom access restrictions for transgender Congress member Sarah McBride.
Led by Speaker Mike Johnson, this move aims to protect women’s privacy and safety in Capitol restrooms.
It also addresses concerns millions of Americans share about biological males barging into female spaces.
McBride, who is the first transgender person elected to Congress, will now be unable to use women’s restrooms in the Capitol.
“We’re not going to have men in women’s bathrooms,” Johnson declared while emphasizing the need to protect the rights and comfort of biological women.
GOP Rep. Nancy Mace was behind the resolution that would ban lawmakers and House employees from using single-sex facilities that do not correspond to their biological sex.
This measure specifically targets McBride and aims to uphold the traditional separation of bathrooms based on biological sex, a practice that has been the norm for generations.
The move by House Republicans is part of a larger national conversation on transgender rights and bathroom access.
At least 11 states have already enacted laws preventing transgender individuals from using certain bathrooms.
Standing firm on her principles, Mace stated she would oppose any man in women’s restrooms.
She also revealed that Speaker Johnson had assured her the bathroom provision would be included in upcoming House rule changes, showcasing the Republican leadership’s commitment to addressing this critical issue.
Expectedly, Democrats and McBride criticized the GOP effort as “bullying” and a “distraction.”
McBride, who is also an LGBTQ+ activist who raised over $3 million in campaign contributions, represents a shift that many conservative voters find concerning.
McBride’s election to the House and previous address at the 2016 Democrat National Convention signify a push for liberal policies that often clash with traditional American values.
