Historic First – Gridiron Club Dinner Snubs President

(DailyEmailNews.com) – In a shocking snub to President Donald Trump, the elite Gridiron Club broke its 140-year tradition by refusing to toast the sitting president at its annual dinner.

Instead, the Washington media establishment deliberately chose to toast the First Amendment, signaling their continued resistance to the Trump administration’s efforts to restore accountability in journalism.

For the first time since its founding in the 1880s, the Gridiron Club, one of Washington’s most exclusive journalistic organizations, abandoned its long-standing tradition of honoring the president.

Both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance declined to attend the event, which has historically featured good-natured roasting of politicians from both parties.

Gridiron Club president Judy Woodruff announced the unprecedented decision, choosing instead to toast press freedom rather than acknowledge the elected president.

This move comes as the Trump administration has taken necessary steps to address years of biased coverage from mainstream outlets.

The White House did not send an official representative to speak at the event, breaking another tradition.

Although Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner attended, he did not deliver remarks on behalf of the administration.

The absence speaks volumes about the deteriorating relationship between the media elite and an administration focused on delivering results for the American people rather than pandering to the Washington press corps.

“Nobody went because either we were busy working or we just don’t care to be recognized by that crowd,” a Trump official disclosed.

The snub comes as tensions have escalated between the Trump administration and media outlets that have consistently promoted false narratives.

The White House has recently restricted access to certain media organizations that have demonstrated clear bias.

This rebuke included barring the Associated Press from some events and questioning the accuracy of CBS and ABC’s reporting.

The event featured partisan attacks disguised as humor. Maryland Democrat Governor Wes Moore made jokes about Republican ties to Russia that were so offensive that Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll walked out in protest.

This inappropriate behavior underscores exactly why many Trump administration officials chose not to attend an event that has increasingly become a platform for liberal talking points.

Ironically, the Gridiron Club showed a video featuring past Republican presidents, including footage of President Trump from his 2018 appearance at the dinner where he praised journalists.

At that event, Trump spoke graciously about the press, highlighting the stark contrast between his willingness to engage and the media’s current hostility toward his administration.

The White House Correspondents Dinner is scheduled in the coming weeks, though it remains unclear if President Trump will attend.

During his first term, the president chose to skip the event, recognizing it as another opportunity for the liberal media to attack while claiming to celebrate press freedom.
