Fauci Back in the News

(DailyEmailNews.com) – After a controversial tenure that saw the Biden administration attempt to control Americans, Dr. Anthony Fauci is back in the news after he agreed to publicly testify about his role in the pandemic response and the origins of COVID-19.

The former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is set to testify on June 3, which marks his first public session with the 118th Congress since retiring at the end of 2022.

Fauci’s upcoming appearance is part of an agreement with the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic that included a two-day closed-door interview in January.

Fauci retired from his NIAID position about 18 months ago after serving through the Trump and Biden administrations.

Subcommittee Chair Representative Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) emphasized accountability is of utmost importance. “Retirement from public service does not excuse Dr. Fauci from accountability to the American people,” he said.

“On June 3, Americans will have an opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Fauci about his role in overseeing our nation’s pandemic response, shaping pandemic-era polices, and promoting singular questionable narratives about the origins of COVID-19,” Wenstrup asserted.

Fauci’s previous private testimony highlighted various public health failures and raised questions about the validity of official pandemic guidelines.

Fauci discussed topics such as social distancing measures, which he admitted might not have been based on solid scientific data, and the possibility that COVID-19 could have originated from a lab in Wuhan, China.

Although he faced some resistance from other scientists about the definition of a “lab leak,” Fauci recognized that the hypothesis was not just a conspiracy theory.

His testimony also revealed he frequently forgot critical details regarding COVID-19 policies and origins.

This testimony comes amid divided opinions in Congress. While some Republicans criticized Fauci’s significant influence during the pandemic, Democrats like Representative Raul Ruiz (D-CA) argue that there is no direct evidence that Fauci or others committed wrongdoing or suppressed information about the virus’s origins.

Fauci’s lengthy January interview’s transcript will be released online before the June public hearing to ensure transparency.

Chairman Wenstrup said he expected honest testimonies from both Fauci and EcoHealth Alliance president Dr. Peter Daszak, who will testify about his ties to the Wuhan lab.
