(DailyEmailNews.com) – The U.S. Coast Guard once again showcased its unwavering dedication to securing borders by intercepting a vessel carrying 21 illegal aliens off the coast of San Diego.

This week, late at night, the Coast Guard Cutter Active and the Coast Guard Cutter Terrell Horne sprang into action after receiving intelligence from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) about a suspicious vessel.

The target: a 40-foot panga-style boat lurking about 20 miles off the coast of Point Loma, California.

With assistance from CBP, boarding teams from both cutters successfully interdicted the vessel, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between federal agencies to secure the maritime borders.

All 21 individuals aboard were apprehended and transferred to Border Patrol custody for processing.

While all individuals initially claimed Mexican nationality, subsequent checks exposed the lies of at least two passengers, identifying them as Guatemalan and Salvadoran aliens.

Moreover, this interception is just the tip of the iceberg in the ongoing battle against illegal immigration along the San Diego coast.

Since 2018, there has been a staggering 400% increase in smuggling cases, with nearly 150 reported in the last three months alone.

The surge in maritime smuggling attempts underscores the urgent need for increased border security measures and stricter immigration policies.

The situation has become so dire that San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Lifeguard Division Lieutenant Rick Romera stated, “It happens on a weekly basis.”

This alarming frequency of smuggling attempts puts an enormous strain on law enforcement resources and poses significant risks to public safety.

The Coast Guard’s efforts are part of a broader national crackdown on illegal immigration and border security under the Trump administration.

Coast Guard acting commandant, Admiral Kevin Lunday, emphasized the agency’s commitment to this vital mission, stating,

“In accordance with the President’s Executive Orders, the Coast Guard continues to surge assets and leverage its unique capabilities to protect America’s borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.”

Furthermore, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported a staggering 7,300 illegal alien arrests in just the past week.

The brave men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard continue to stand as a bulwark against the relentless assault on the country’s borders.

Their tireless efforts to intercept illegal aliens and disrupt smuggling operations are crucial in maintaining the safety and security of the coastal communities.
