CNN Anchor Doing WHAT?!

( – Confirming that leftwing news anchors are disguised politicians advancing an agenda, a familiar face on CNN decided to throw his hat into the political arena.

John Avlon aims to secure a seat in Congress from New York’s 1st Congressional District, which sets him on a collision course with the current holder, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY), come November.

After quitting CNN earlier this month after 14 years, Avlon’s campaign kicked off with a video uploaded to X where he claims there is an urgency of safeguarding democracy. He steps into a competitive arena and joins several Democrats who are trying to unseat LaLota in a district deemed “likely Republican” by the Cook Political Report.

Avlon faces competition within the Democratic ranks from figures such as former state Sen. James Gaughran, former New York City administrative law Judge Craig Herskowitz and organic chemist Nancy Goroff.

“The United States is the greatest democracy the world has ever known,” Avlon stated and argued that he perceives democracy to be in danger. “This election is not a drill. It’s up to all of us to step up and get off the sidelines. And that’s why I’m running for Congress in New York’s 1st District.”

Avlon also did not shy away from criticizing former President Donald Trump and “his MAGA minions,” and accused them of a lack of interest in addressing real issues.

His resume extends beyond journalism: Avlon is a key figure in the No Labels movement, which seeks to introduce a centrist candidate onto the presidential ballot in several states this November.

Reacting to Avlon’s candidacy, LaLota’s spokesperson Will Kiley stated he is a “Manhattan elitist” disconnected from the realities of Long Island life, except for his luxurious time in the Hamptons.

Kiley mockingly noted that Avlon might end up spending a fortune only to realize that the district traditionally rejects such outsiders attempting to secure a congressional seat through financial clout.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) also chimed in and said Avalon misrepresents the district’s more moderate leanings.

“We look forward to litigating this smug, liberal hack’s past so voters can see just how Left he and the rest of the modern Democrat party have become,” NRCC spokeswoman Savannah Viar stated.
