Business CLOSED; Blue State CRIME!

"Out of Business" sign on closed store shutters.

(DailyEmailNews.com) – Highlighting the dire consequences of the liberal agenda, Oakland, which once was California’s thriving business district near the airport, is now crumbling under the weight of rampant blue-state crime.

The iconic Hilton Oakland Airport hotel, a 56-year hospitality landmark, has shut its doors for good, leaving over 150 hard-working Americans jobless.

This closure is just the latest casualty in a string of businesses fleeing the area, exposing the dire consequences of soft-on-crime policies in this liberal stronghold.

The Hilton Oakland Airport, which spans 20 acres and has 360 guest rooms and 15,000 square feet of event space, checked out its final customer on August 28.

The shutdown marks a devastating blow to the local economy and community, as the hotel had been a cornerstone of the area for over half a century.

Employees, some of whom had dedicated decades of their lives to the establishment, bid emotional farewells to their workplace and colleagues.

Egigu Lemma, a bellman and guest service agent for 35 years, expressed the heartbreak felt by many.

“This is my last day today. We’re all heartbroken right now. I spend more time here than my house, so the emotional effect is very high,” Lemma said.

The closure of the Hilton is not an isolated incident. Other businesses in the area have also fallen victim to the surge in crime.

Denny’s, a staple for 54 years, closed its doors on January 31, 2024, citing safety concerns.

In-N-Out Burger shuttered its only Oakland location in March 2024 due to frequent criminal incidents.

Even Starbucks, a company known for its liberal leanings, has closed two locations in the Hegenberger area.

The alarming frequency of criminal activity in the area has made it impossible for businesses to operate safely.

Vehicle break-ins, stolen hotel buses, and catalytic converter thefts have become common, driving away customers and putting employees at risk.

From 2019 to 2023, just four businesses along the corridor reported a staggering 2,773 criminal incidents.

While Oakland’s Democrat leaders, including embattled Mayor Sheng Thao, claim they are increasing police patrols and making the area safer, the exodus of businesses tells a different story.

Councilmember Treva Reid expressed concern over the closures and called for increased resources to fight crime in the area.

However, these pleas ring hollow in a city facing a massive budget deficit and a leadership crisis following an FBI raid on Mayor Thao’s home.

The end of the Hilton Oakland Airport and other businesses serves as a stark warning to cities across America.

When law and order breaks down and lenient policies embolden criminals, hard-working citizens and businesses pay the price.

It is time for Oakland and other Democrat-run cities to prioritize public safety and support the police or risk watching their communities crumble under the weight of unchecked crime.
