Specifically, U.S. forces carried out nine precision strikes on Iranian-backed targets across two locations in Syria.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla emphasized the gravity of the situation.
He declared, “Our message is clear. Attacks against U.S. and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated.”
Additionally, CENTCOM stated, “These strikes will degrade the Iranian-backed groups’ ability to plan and launch future attacks on U.S. and Coalition forces who are in the region to conduct D-ISIS operations.”

The recent escalation in attacks on U.S. troops by Iranian-backed groups can be traced back to the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict in October 2023.

The U.S. has a large military presence in Syria, with approximately 900 personnel on the ground as a crucial asset in the ongoing fight against ISIS.
Despite facing constant threats from Iranian proxies, these brave men and women continue to carry out their mission with resolute dedication.
Since August 29, CENTCOM forces have conducted over 95 operations to crush ISIS, which ended in the death of 163 terrorists and the capture of 33 others.
The Pentagon’s decision not to disclose specific details about the targeted sites showcases the military’s commitment to operational security.
The U.S. maintains a tactical advantage by keeping enemies guessing and protecting troops from potential retaliation.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time the U.S. has been forced to respond to Iranian aggression.
In February, militia sites in Syria were struck following a drone attack in Jordan that tragically claimed the lives of three American service members.
