(DailyEmailNews.com) – In an alarming revelation of Chinese espionage on American soil, five Chinese students from the University of Michigan have been caught red-handed at a U.S. military base during critical drills with Taiwanese forces.
This incident at Camp Grayling, Michigan, raises serious questions about the extent of Chinese infiltration into our educational institutions.
It also poses a threat to national security since there is no knowing what other secrets these so-called “students” might have already stolen from right under our noses.
The students are part of a joint program between the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
They were discovered lurking near military equipment and classified communications gear at Camp Grayling.
Armed with cameras, these individuals were clearly up to no good in the dead of night.
Their actions landed them serious charges, including conspiracy, lying to federal investigators and destroying records.
This incident is just the tip of the iceberg in what appears to be a widespread Chinese espionage campaign targeting American universities and military installations.
These turn of events should serve as a wake-up call to America about the very real threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to national security.
Adding to the concern is Camp Grayling’s proximity to a proposed site for Gotion, a China-linked battery company with ties to the CCP.
This company, which has received Chinese state subsidies and employs CCP members, raises red flags about potential further espionage activities in the area.
This incident at Camp Grayling is not an isolated event, as it is part of a larger pattern of Chinese espionage that extends beyond our borders.
In Taiwan, eight individuals, including active-duty and retired military personnel, were recently convicted of spying for China.
The CCP’s tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated. In the Taiwan case, spies were paid using virtual currency.
Even more alarming, the group had planned to fly a CH-47 Chinook military helicopter to China as part of a staged surrender to Beijing, demonstrating the depths of their treason.
The Chinese spies’ infiltration of American universities is not new. Then-President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice launched the China Initiative in 2018 to combat this very threat.
However, the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to discontinue this crucial program has left our educational institutions vulnerable to the CCP’s schemes.
