Both Sides Hate Biden’s Order

( – Fighting a losing battlе of his own making, Joe Biden faced significant backlash from both political sides after he announced a new executive order to tighten controls on illegal immigration at the southern border.

During a White House briefing, Biden introduced the executive order in response to over 6 million border encounters since his term began.

The order will halt the entry of illegals when the daily average of border encounters surpasses 2,500 over a week.

This suspension will remain until the average falls below 1,500 encounters per day for a consecutive week.

Rooted in sections 212(f) and 215(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, this order is intended to streamline the process for Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection officials to quickly remove individuals with no legal grounds to stay in the U.S.

However, critics quickly voiced their concerns. Immigration hardliners believe the measure is inadequate for the ongoing border crisis, while advocates for migrants warn it poses risks for those seeking asylum.

Federation for American Immigration Reform communications manager Joe Chester criticized the effectiveness of Biden’s executive order, stating, “This executive order is nothing more than [Biden] trying to fool the American people and hide the results of his disastrous immigration policies.”

Chester pointed out that despite its intent, the order still allows up to 1.8 million illegal crossings each year and includes several exemptions that undermine its effectiveness.

NumbersUSA CEO James Massa said he was particularly dissatisfied with the “blanket waivers” that exempt any individual using the CBP One app from the order’s restrictions.

On the other side, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), known for its legal battles against the Trump administration’s immigration policies, announced plans to file a lawsuit against the Biden administration over the new order.

“We intend to challenge this order in court. It was illegal when Trump did it, and it is no less illegal now,” stated ACLU’s Immigrants’ Rights Project deputy director Lee Gelernt.

As Biden’s order receives attention, recent polls suggest that illegal immigration has become a primary concern for many Americans.

Most voters believe that former President Donald Trump would manage the issue more effectively than Biden.
