President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration and crime continues as federal authorities have captured a notorious Gulf Cartel commander.

Known as “Comandante Pony,” Fabian Silva Aguirre was arrested during a traffic stop near Brownsville, Texas.

What makes the case even more alarming is that Silva Aguirre had illegally re-entered the United States after being deported.

This major arrest strikes a significant blow against the dangerous criminal organization responsible for trafficking drugs, weapons, and illegal aliens across America’s southern border.

The arrest took place when agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector Anti-Smuggling Unit, working with the Cameron County Constables Precinct 2 Office, conducted a traffic stop that led to the identification and apprehension of the cartel leader.

Silva Aguirre now faces charges of illegal re-entry after removal, as authorities confirmed he had previously been deported from the United States.

Silva Aguirre played a key role in coordinating smuggling operations for both narcotics and aliens.

Authorities have identified him as a significant figure in the Gulf Cartel’s operations, particularly in the Brownsville area, which serves as a major corridor for drug and human smuggling into the United States.

While the Gulf Cartel has lost some influence in recent years, it still controls large portions of the U.S.-Mexico border near the Gulf of Mexico.

The criminal organization traditionally operated out of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, where it controlled the flow of cocaine, methamphetamine, high-powered weapons, cash, and illegal aliens across the border into Texas.

This latest arrest demonstrates how law enforcement under President Trump continues to target individuals involved in transnational criminal organizations, especially those with a history of illegal border crossings and trafficking.

The coordinated operation between federal and local law enforcement agencies highlights the ongoing efforts by U.S. border agencies to disrupt cartel activities along the southern border.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the nation’s largest law enforcement organization, the arrest is part of its mission to protect America while facilitating lawful travel and trade.

The Gulf Cartel’s activities have long been a focus of border security operations due to their involvement in smuggling cocaine, methamphetamine, weapons, and people.

RGV Sector Chief Gloria I. Chavez declared:

“This arrest demonstrates our commitment to dismantling criminal organizations like the Gulf Cartel. By apprehending this individual, we are not only safeguarding our borders but sending a clear message that we will relentlessly pursue those who seek to exploit our nation’s security.”

For years, the Gulf Cartel has exploited weaknesses in border enforcement to continue their lucrative trafficking operations that bring dangerous drugs and criminals into American communities.

While this arrest represents a significant victory for law enforcement, it also underscores the persistent challenge of securing the southern border against determined transnational criminal organizations.
