(DailyEmailNews.com) – Reminding voters of the Democrat nominee’s track record on the issue, US Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has introduced a resolution in the Senate condemning Kamala Harris for her mishandling of border security.
Blackburn accused Harris of neglecting her duties as the appointed “border czar,” a role she assumed to address the underlying factors of illegal immigration into the United States.
“Since her very first day in office, Vice President Harris — President Biden’s designated ‘border czar’ — has refused to take the national security and safety crisis at our southern border seriously,” Blackburn stated.
Blackburn highlighted the administration’s record, claiming, “The Biden-Harris administration has presided over more than 10 million illegal border crossings and has released nearly 100 individuals on the terrorist watchlist into our country.”
She continued to criticize Harris, saying, “Vice President Harris can run, but she cannot hide from her disastrous record that has killed countless innocent Americans.”
Despite being tasked in March 2021 with managing the border issues, Harris made her first visit to the southern border on June 25, 2021, choosing El Paso, Texas—far from the most active crossing regions.
In response, the Harris campaign has recently attempted to reshape her image on border issues with new advertisements claiming she is tough on the border.
Blackburn provided further statistics, noting that under the Biden-Harris leadership, there have been over 9,700,000 encounters with illegal aliens nationwide, with more than 7,900,000 of these at the southern border alone.
She also mentioned that approximately 2 million known “got-aways” have eluded Border Patrol during their tenure—a sharp increase from the previous decade.
Comparatively, there were 170,723 illegal encounters at the southern border in May 2024 alone, which is a 185% rise from the averages during former President Donald Trump’s term.
She also emphasized the human cost of the administration’s border policies, stating, “Illegal immigrants with violent criminal histories who have murdered innocent Americans, including Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungary, Rachel Morin, and others throughout the United States, pose an existential threat to the safety and security of the American people.”
Moreover, Blackburn referenced an NBC report from June stating that over 50 illegals linked to ISIS were released by Biden administration officials.
In the House, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) introduced a companion resolution echoing Blackburn’s.
