(DailyEmailNews.com) – The FBI’s recent warning about increased voter fraud schemes ahead of the election reveals a shocking truth: some actors want to cash out on the way Americans vote.
The agency revealed multiple ways in which voters are being deceived. For instance, scammers are resorting to using candidates’ names, images, and slogans.
They are doing so in order to sell merch, steal personal information and empty victims’ wallets by soliciting fraudulent campaign contributions.
The bureau explained that possible victims could find themselves sending money to support a candidate with the promise of getting cash back if their candidate wins.
Scammers can pull the fraud off by making victims believe they are donating money to a real PAC.
However, victims would pool money into the scammer’s pockets instead of supporting their candidate.
Regarding merch, the scheme involves offering goods with a candidate’s logo. However, the seller would not be affiliated with any campaign, and the items would end up not being shipped to customers.
Finally, the agency warns Americans about any suspicious text message or email telling them to use a link.
Said links often redirect users to fraudulent pages that are used to steal personal and sensitive information.
In addition to the FBI’s warnings, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is cautioning Americans about “disinformation.”
Instances of possible voter fraud have also been reported, like ballot box fires in Washington and Oregon, as well as misleading signs in North Carolina.
These are not isolated events but have been described as part of a coordinated effort to manipulate the election outcome.
