(DailyEmailNews.com) – Refusing to stay idle while the Biden administration carries out its assault on American energy independence, Alaska is taking matters into its own hands.
The state has filed a lawsuit challenging the federal government’s irrational restrictions on oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
Alaska’s bold move seeks to protect its economic future and uphold Congressional mandates for energy development.
Filed just days before a scheduled lease sale, the lawsuit accuses the Biden administration of violating a Trump-era law that required at least two oil and gas drilling lease sales in the ANWR by December 2024.
Alaska argues that the restrictions imposed by the Biden team make development economically and practically impossible, nullifying the Congressional directive.
Alaska Attorney General Treg Taylor did not mince words when criticizing the administration’s actions.
“President Biden’s Administration ignored the law and took this unlawful detour without even presenting their final decision to the public for comment,” Taylor stated.
The battle over ANWR drilling has been ongoing for decades. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter designated “Area 1002” in ANWR for potential resource exploration and development.
However, the Biden administration seems determined to undo this long-standing plan for American energy dominance.
“Interior’s continued and irrational opposition under the Biden administration to responsible energy development in the Arctic continues America on a path of energy dependence instead of utilizing the vast resources we have available,” Republican Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy stated.
Governor Dunleavy expressed hope for policy changes under a future administration while emphasizing the need for immediate legal action:
“We have already heard comments from the incoming president that his administration will thankfully take a different tack and open up those areas that are meant to be developed. But unfortunately, we can’t wait for that—we have to challenge this unlawful action now.”
The Biden administration’s war on American energy does not stop at ANWR. Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan has documented over 60 Biden-era decisions impacting oil and gas production in the state.
Alaska’s lawsuit seeks to have the court declare the lease sale plan unlawful and prevent the issuance of any leases under the current restrictions.
The state argues that the Biden administration has crafted the environmental impact statement to minimize bids and potentially prevent future lease sales, effectively sabotaging America’s energy future.
Biden’s history of opposing oil development in Alaska dates back to his early Senate years, and his administration’s actions clearly show a continuation of this misguided ideology.
The Biden team is putting America last and jeopardizing energy security by targeting Alaska’s economic development projects, including land withdrawals and permit denials.
