(DailyEmailNews.com) – Despite promising that bankruptcy would not disrupt service, Silver Airways and its executives have shown their true colors after suddenly abandoning Florida travelers.
The abrupt shutdown canceled all flights at Orlando International Airport without warning.
It also left countless American families stranded with no explanation, no refunds, and no alternative travel options as the airline’s corporate leadership remains silent.
Although the airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2024, it had previously assured customers that tickets would remain valid and operations would continue as normal during financial restructuring.
That promise proved worthless when Silver Airways halted all operations at Orlando International Airport over the weekend.
The move blindsided travelers who arrived at the airport only to discover their flights no longer existed.
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) was given virtually no advance notice of the shutdown.
“MCO received notification yesterday afternoon that, effective immediately, all departing and arriving flights with Silver Airlines are canceled,” said GOAA spokeswoman Angela Starke.
Her statement revealed the company’s lack of transparency and responsibility to the flying public.

This sudden operational collapse differs from Silver Airways’ earlier public statements.
When initially filing for bankruptcy, the airline confidently declared: “This decision will allow us to secure additional capital and undertake a financial restructuring that will strengthen our position as a competitive airline, ultimately benefiting you—our valued customers.”
Silver Airways was the 27th largest carrier at Orlando International Airport, transporting nearly 129,000 passengers every year between Central Florida and destinations including Pensacola, Key West, the Bahamas, and Fort Lauderdale.
The Fort Lauderdale-based airline operated 14 ATR aircraft, though industry reports indicate some planes were already inactive before this weekend’s shutdown.
The airline’s complete silence following the cancellations has only intensified frustrations.
No official statement explaining the sudden shutdown has been provided, and the company has ignored all media requests for comment.
Meanwhile, hardworking Americans who paid for flights are left scrambling to make alternative arrangements at their own expense.
Silver Airways has a history of financial instability. It was founded in 2011 after the bankruptcy of its predecessor, Gulfstream International Airlines.
The current situation highlights the lack of accountability in the airline industry and raises questions about oversight, which allows carriers to leave American travelers stranded without warning or recourse.
